We packed a lunch and ate on a sandy beach. I explored a crevice while we ate, I was curious to go all the way to the end. However, I kept feeling something near my feet while I swam. I shook it off at first as being silly (it does creep me out to think about how deep the water is and who know's what is really down there?) And then all of the sudden fish started swimming by. Thousands of tiny fish that actually jumped in the air as I screamed and hurled myself onto one side of the cliff walls and propped myself up with my feet on the other side of the walls. Needless to say, I didn't explore anymore tiny canyons after that. I barely got in the water on the way back!! I wish I could have had a picture of me being terrified of those fish.
My family started a tradition of camping at Lake Powell, in September, 2013. We were able to go again this year, and it was just as fun as the year before!!! I was able to camp with my dad, husband, brother-in-law, and 3 siblings and their kids. We camped down and dirty in the sand. I let one of my nieces cook me a hot dog one night but declined to eat it, due to the sand caked on it. Also, one of my brothers had an interesting night when he tried to leave early because his child got sick. His car got stuck in the sand in the middle of the night, then he came back to the camp to get help to push his car, but then we couldn't find his car again!! Well, we found it eventually but it was a crazy night. If you haven't been to Lake Powell, I definitely recommend it. It has beautiful sand stone cliffs with clear blue, fresh water. It was originally a canyon that was damned up sometime in the 50's and now is a beautiful lake. It also doesn't grow a ton of moss like most lakes so I enjoy swimming in it since it doesn't seem dirty. Part of our Lake Powell tradition is to rent a boat one of the days we camp, which is really the best way to explore all the nooks and crannies that are supplied by this beautiful canyon. If you knew my family, you would know how nerdy they are and what a surprise that they actually like to go boating. One of my nieces didn't want to get off the tube, even after several hours! Can you believe my super old dad was able to go tubing with his grandchildren? We packed a lunch and ate on a sandy beach. Lake Powell was fun, as always, and seeing my family was even more fun. I can't wait until next year to go back!! There is nothing else quite like those sunrises over the water, where the water is displayed in shades of orange to a deep grey. Until next year!! Here is an outfit that I wore, which I like (obviously). My strappy sandals are from Aldo outlet and were $20. My pants are from Nordstrom Rack, and were $11.99. Those pants have been great with my weight fluctuation. They fit me when I gain weight and when I lose it. My shirt is from Down East Basics and was $8.50. My earrings were from a coffee shop in Sandy (they have a cute key on them) and were $6.99. My bracelet is a simple multi-stranded silver bracelet I got sometime in High school (I have no idea from where or how much). My outfit total? $47.48 My tip of the day is to keep your closet organized. I just recently moved to a bigger home, but me and my husband lived in a tiny 500 square foot studio for over a year. I had to be very organized with my clothing so I would remember what I had. I probably went a little over board with organization (I have a little OCD) but its always a good idea to go through your closet and see what you still want. You might remember that cute shirt you bought a couple of months ago that some how got pushed behind everything else!! Then you can also get rid of clothes you don't wear any more or that don't fit you. When I had a super small closet and I would rotate out my winter and summer clothes so I didn't have as much actually hanging up in my closet. I also arrange my shirts by color so they are easier to find. But whatever works for you, I just think it's nice knowing where everything is. Thank you for reading!!
