Me and husband got to go visit my sister-in-law, who lives in Missoula, Montana, again. I love that place in the summer!! Beautiful, green mountains with equally cool people. I think my husband might be as tall as a mountain (he is 6'6").
We only came up for a weekend, but what a great weekend. My sister-in-law and her husband took us hiking at the beautiful Lake Como. Upon arriving, the sun started setting which was really amazing. The surroundings looked different every minute that turned into sunset.
We made up this game while walking on the shore, that we would "just walk to the next bend in the lake". However, every bend would show a new larger bend and then we would have to walk to the next bend in the lake. Eventually it was too far and starting to get dark, so we had to turn back. Being a Cali girl, I'm not used to such big lakes, and had no idea that we could not just walk around all of it in an hour or two. The "lakes" in southern California are nothing compared to lakes in Montana.
As usual, the boys turned everything into a game, stopping every few feet to skip rocks. (I can only make a rock skip once, meaning I can just throw rocks into bodies of water). I don't remember what they are doing in this picture, but I'm sure they are having fun.
And here is Natassja and I. She is so beautiful, inside and out! I have really miss them since they've moved to Missoula. I'm so lucky that my husband's family have turned out to be such good friends of mine. She can make me laugh so hard that I cry. Though, to be fair, I cry fairly easily.
We were also able to explore the Tamaracks, which are trees that looks like normal Christmas trees, but aren't green all the time. They will be intermixed with regular fir trees, but turn yellow or orange in the fall. From far away, they just looked like dying trees, but up close you realized they are actually changing colors with the seasons.
It was hard to say goodbye to Tasj and Rob, but it was time to get back to Salt Lake. Until next time, Montana!!
On to my outfit of the day...Bold stripes and cheetah pants (though subtle cheetah). My shoes were from Vans. They weren't on sale but black vans are a great basic shoe to have that last pretty good. I think they were $30 (I got them a long time ago). My cheetah print jean were from Nordstrom Rack and were 9.95. My pink and white striped shirt was from Down East Basics and was 7.99. They had a great sale one weekend at the outlets in Park City, and I got a bunch of very cute shirts for under $10. My earrings were a gift from an aunt of mine, so free. My outfit total was $47.94. Which is pretty awesome considering I didn't skimp on my shoes!!!
My tip of the day??? It's OK to spend a little more than you usually would for quality items!! Take, for instance, my black vans featured above. I've had those for about 3 years now, and they still look great. I've spilled bleach on them (covered the bleach spots with black sharpie and none the wiser) and washed them twice now. Somethings never really do go on sale so don't feel guilty spending money on something that will last you a long time.
